For those in the path of Typhoon Fung Wong
Fung Wong in Cantonese means King of Winds. Even as these lines are penned Fung Wong is sweeping into China, as it had over Taiwan.
In its wake, thousands have suffered it elemental wrath. Prayers are channelled in the direction of those who have stood in its destructive path.
May their suffering be very much lessened.

Desperate bid to save miners in Guangxi Zhuang
Thirty-six miners are currently trapped in a coal mine in the Tiandong county.
According to official sources, seven men managed to escape and 13 have been rescued.
The rest are still trapped, 2,000 metres from the main exit. As time is running out, we pray that they be saved in time.

A prayer for Nelson Mandela on his 90th birthday

Sometimes in the history of man, comes along a person like Nelson Mandela. He spent 27 years of his life in prison.
All he had with him to keep himself sane is a strong will and some unbreakable principles.
The fact that he survived behind bars for more than a quarter of a century is a miracle. But God has kept Mandela alive for a purpose.
I reckon Mandela is around today is to remind us that in the face of all the global problems and other challenges, man can overcome all odds and face any challenges thrown at him.
Just look at Nelson Mandela. He's the shining beacon that has shone the way for the rest of us. God bless his soul.

Sorrow deep in the heart of Burma
While the rest of the world has forgotten about the recently plight of Burma, the numbers are still being counted.
Many have died where they have fallen. There was no one to bury them and they have added their own bodies to the fertility of the land.
Burma is in a sad state. The military junta has not allowed foreign journalists into the country, and aid has not reached many parts.
Death is a constant companion for many of the typhoon survivors. We pray for their safety and well being. May the good Lord be with them in their hours of misery and sorrow.

For the dying and starving in Somalia
Reports have filtered through to many parts of the world that millions are struggling to survive under dire circumstances in Somalia.
The prospects are grim and the future looks gloomy. Death deals a heavy hand in the land where darkness has been part of the landscape for years.
We pray for deliverance for these long suffering citizens and their offsprings.

Enlighten the leaders at G8
The G8 members are currently meeting in Japan.
The pressing issues on top of the agenda are global warming, worldwide food shortages and sharp rises in oil prices.
We send positive thoughts to those in attendance so that they will find it in their hearts and minds to help the world to move forward and to brighter days.
