For the people of Georgia

The gunfire, the explosions and sporadic shootings have brought confusion and disruption to the lives of the ordinary citizens.

May the Georgians find their way back to the path of harmony and security in the weeks ahead.

We all pray for such times to return soon.

For the also-rans at the Beijing Olympics

There can only be one gold winner at every sport in the 29th Olympiad. We say a nice prayer for those who didn't win.

Perhaps they have been training for years, and in the process have sacrificed much. In the end, they went home empty.

Their hearts are sore and their feelings hurt but this is just a game, nothing more.

It is in participating that's important. We remember all the people who didn't get to stand on the podium, even if it's a bronze.

Perhaps another Olympics, another time. Not everybody gets to be a champion. But the lessons learnt in every which way is ever so significant.

A big prayers goes out to the nation that all the sportsmen and sportswomen who have gathered there will have a trouble-free two-week competition.

May they enjoy themselves and when the games end, they will return home with only happy memories.
